Cabin under fire

The family travelled to Ketchum to the family cabin a couple of weekends ago with some friends. We had one good night there and were evacuated the next day due to horrible fires raging in the hills. We packed up our belongings and as much of the cowboy collectibles that belong to my parents as possible. Then we headed to Twin Falls to drop off the goods with my parents. At the time that we were evacuated, the fire had burned approx. 6,000 acres. As of the last time I checked last night, it was almost 50,000 acres. The areas that are burning have made almost a complete circle surrounding our cabin. That circle keeps closing in and is cinching in on the cabin. There is a link that you can go to to see pictures of the fire and maps of what is burning. It is http://www.inciweb.org/. The fire to check out is the Castle Rock fire. Please pray for the safety of all those fighting the fires and for the property at stake. My great-grandfather homesteaded up there and the whole area, not just the cabins, means a lot to my family.

Leaving the Little One

Well, Evan just dropped Sulli off in Glens Ferry to be with my parents over the weekend. We are on our way to a wedding in Bend, Oregon and didn't think that Sulli would enjoy lots of time in the car just to get to somewhere where he had to behave and be quiet. He would have much more fun exploring at Nana and Papa's. It is hard leaving your kids though. I am a bit fond of the little rug rat! This is only the second time leaving him over a weekend. It has been done before, I know that we all will survive. It is just strange! I will let you know how it goes!

How does this work?

Ok, so I am trying to catch up with the times and actually join the technological age. There is this frenzy with blogging and apparently I am "out of it" when it comes to this stuff. But I thought this would be a good way to keep myself somewhat organized and you somewhat updated as to what is going on in our lives. I am trying to figure out how I customize my page so I am not sure where this is going to go or what to do next. So I guess I am just going to start clicking on buttons. Here I go!!!
