Here are some more pictures of the boys. They are just so cute and cuddly! It is snowing like crazy today. Won't be planning any outings in this weather! This is a day to stay home by the fire and cuddle!

Some quiet time!
The tranquilizers just took effect so I have a few brief moments that I can write. Haha!
My mom has been with me the last 2 weeks but this is the first week I have the two boys at home by myself. Life is definately different with 2. This morning, Sulli and I finally got in to take a shower around 10ish. I got Ben fed and asleep and laid him down. When I got out of the shower, he of course was awake and crying. There is just going to be those moments of tears that we didn't have the last 2 weeks while mom was here. But we all survived the shower ordeal. I actually was able to wash 2 loads of laundry, unload the dishwasher and make Sulli and I lunch today. I can do it...I can really do it! The tasks just don't always get done from start to finish right away...stages. The boys are doing great. Sulli loves his brother and loves to hug and kiss on him. He is definately having his moments of wanting my full attention. And he is typically getting that full attention by acting out. But I am trying to take all the moments that I can when Ben is down to shower Sulli with love. Ben's umbilical stump finally fell of this last weekend. We took the family to Twin Falls so that Ben could meet Great-Grandpa Alvin. It was a good 2 day trip.
Of course, both boys are awake now and Daddy just got home. So I need to direct my energy elsewhere. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

The Gory Details
Ok folks, if you don't want to know the whole labor/delivery story you can skip this entry. But if you are like me, you want the details. So...Thursday 1/10 I had contractions pretty much all afternoon but none that were strong enough to call the doctor about. My parents and sister came into town that afternoon because the next day I was to be induced at 7 in the morning. The plan was that Evan, my mom and my sister were going to be there for the delivery. My dad was going to stay at home with Sulli.
We went to bed saying our prayers that all would go well with the induction the next day. I still was not feeling 100% great about the induction but was needing to just be done with the pregnancy due to such discomfort. Our last prayer of the night was that if it was God's will, that Benson still come on his own.
At around midnight that evening, my contractions started getting to the point where I was actually having to breathe through them. I waited to wake Evan until about 1:30. I told him that I thought we needed to go to the hospital early. We got ready and headed out for the hospital. We arrived at around 2:30 and I was checked in the triage room at 2:45am and immediately asked for an epidural. At that time I was dilated to 7cm. They instantly wheeled me into a delivery room and began to get everything ready.
I continued to ask for the epidural constantly and had to wait until my IV was started and my platelet count was obtained from the lab. I was told by the nurse that there wasn't going to be time for me to receive the epidural which sent me into a complete panic and I bawled. I admit it, I did not have the composure to receive that news. The anesthesiologist was in the room on standby. They checked me again and I was between 8-9 cm. At that moment they arrived with my platelet count which ok'ed me to have the epidural. It was too late for that though. But I did get an intrathecal which is just placed in a different area of the spinal column. It numbs but does not deaden.
While I was getting the intrathecal I was contracting and this contraction came with pushing...I had to push. It was crazy having that feeling that I just had to push. Anyways, one more contraction went by during which the doctor broke my water and found meconium. She called in the NICU team and they arrived right away. She explained that I would not get to hold the baby right away and that she would be cutting the cord.
The next contraction that came she told me to push. I pushed twice and then was told to stop and....out he came. I was in shock. Complete shock. I pushed TWICE! Are you kidding me? I pushed for 2 1/2 hours with Sullivan! Two times...WHAT? It was just unbelievable. The doctor got him to the NICU nurses and they took great care of him. No problems...apgar of 9.9.
As for me, I hardly tore and really did great. It was an amazing experience all over again but so completely different than last time. It was just Evan and I and the team around us. My mom and sister missed it because it happened so fast. Checked at 2:45...baby arrived at 3:34am. Unreal.
We are home, doing great. My mom has been here all week which has been an amazing blessing. She has been taking turns with me at night. Evan has been on Sulli duty because the night that Ben came home, Sulli decided that he didn't want to be in his crib any more. His exact words were "I no like my trib". So the crib came down and his is on a blow up matress on the floor. Evan has been sleeping with him.
Well, baby calls and the boobs just swell right up...sorry for the graphic details there. Gotta run! I will get more pictures soon. Thanks for your calls, prayers and overall support. We love you all.

Still Pregnant!
Well, I had contractions all night last night but they were really irregular and didn't ever get to the point where I thought I should be making the call to my doctor. Pretty disappointing. And not to mention, it sure does make it hard to sleep when you are anticipating the big ones to be hitting any moment. I am still in the same boat I have been for a while with the discomfort and all. And to add to all of it, Sulli got his first ear infection over the weekend and I too came down with a sinus and ear infection of my own. The thought of pushing right now just makes my head pound even harder! Anyways, as you can tell, I am in a poor me phase right now. So help me out...poor Nicole! We took some pictures last night of the swollen belly. We had taken a picture when I was pregnant with Sulli of a smiley face on my belly (Evan's idea) and Sulli has been wanting to see the "miley face". We finally did it last night. So here they are. Hopefully this is the last set of stretch marked belly pics and we can start sending cute baby pics instead. Keep your fingers crossed!!

Come out, come out!
Ok, so my due date isn't until Jan. 15th but enough is enough. This baby is down so low that my life is miserable. I am having terrible back/hip/pelvic pain and there is no position or solution for making it better. I went to the doctor yesterday and I am 3 cm dilated and 80-90% effaced. She was actually quite shocked that with how low he is that I haven't delivered yet. So here we sit, totally uncomfortable, waiting for baby Benson's arrival. I am hoping any minute now something will happen. I have been contracting but nothing that lasts for very long. I would post a current belly picture but I not very good at taking pictures of me. I will have to have Evan take picture tonight. There's the baby update for you!
Christmas 2007
Christmas was such a fun time this year. Sulli is really starting to get what all the hub-bub is about. We talked about how it was Jesus' birthday. He sang happy birthday to Jesus whenever there was a lit candle around. He was really excited when Nana made a cake because he just knew it was a birthday cake for the baby Jesus. He also was excited for Santa to come. I am not sure if he knew why Santa was coming but when asked what he wanted Santa to bring, he always answered "A Christmas tree." Needless to say, Santa didn't have a hard time finding some treasures to light up this little kids Christmas morning. He was given a guitar, a microphone, and binoculars. He is finally calling the microphone the right word after referring to it as a microwave for the first few days. His binoculars are known as "noclars". On Christmas Eve, we had snow on the ground. Daddy took Sulli to the sporting goods store and they got him some camo boots. They came home and built a great snowman. They were very creative when it came to decorating his face (oranges, oreos, goldfish, reese's pieces). We had a small family Christmas morning at our house and then went to Evan's parents for the rest of the day. It was nice and relaxing. My family then came on Friday and we did it all over again Friday night. Sulli was given a Schwinn trike by Nana and Papa and he is pretty darn good at peddling around. I can tell by summer he will be hell on wheels.
